National Hug Your Boss Day - It Is That Time Of Year Again!

Next Friday, September 14th, we will be celebrating National Hug Your Boss day!

We hope many of you will be getting involved again by capturing a photo or video of a BIG HUG with your boss and colleagues. Over the years, we are seeing more and more colleagues sending in their hugs with or without the boss involved - so if you are not keen on a hug with the boss, send over your pictures or videos amongst your work colleagues.

The thinking behind National Hug Your Boss Day many years ago, when it was set up, was to promote healthy working relationships with bosses and managers. Clearly, healthy working relationships are just as important between colleagues. With most of your working weekly hours being spent at work, it is important to make sure that you enjoy spending time with the people around you and each year we aim to promote this importance and help with building and developing these relationships.

If you are an employee having issues with your boss or manager, head over to our articles on the website for advice and tips on how to deal with specific situations. Likewise, employers, there are articles here for you too. Take the test to see if you need to improve your relationship with your boss and see MANY pictures and videos from over the years. Head over to the website by clicking here. We will be publishing new stats and facts over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled.....

Please do get involved this year. It is easy to help the promotion which is now a worldwide phenomenon. Share pictures or videos across social media using the hashtags #nationalhugyourbossday #hugyourboss #hugyourbossday. Or you can email them in to hugyourboss@tiptopjob.com.

We look forward to seeing them! Come on, get hugging and sharing!

It is National Hug Your Boss Day.....this Friday!

Only 3 more days to go until we celebrate National Hug Your Boss Day.

SO WHAT IS NATIONAL HUG YOUR BOSS DAY?
National Hug Your Boss Day was created by TipTopJob.com back in 2008. The idea behind launching the day was to promote healthy workplace relationships. We believe that if you are happy to hug your boss then you are more than likely enjoying your job and this in turn may lead to better morale/motivation at work and therefore productivity. We are not saying this is always going to be the case but it is the logic behind the fun!!

We figure that because you spend most of your waking day with those at work, why not make it a more enjoyable experience by getting along with everyone and trying to develop the relationships you have?

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to promote healthy working relationships worldwide and provide assistance to those who need help to better their relationships with colleagues and managers.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
All you need to do is send us a photo of you hugging your boss or colleagues to hugyourboss@tiptopjob.com, upload it to our Facebook page or share via Twitter using the hashtags #hugyourboss or #hugyourbossday. You will also see your picture featured in the Gallery on the website within the next few weeks. We are also seeing plenty of videos being shared so if you prefer to record your hugs, we really appreciate the extra effort and enjoy watching them!

So, what are you waiting for.....get hugging :)

71% of European workers admit to swearing at their boss!

In the latest survey results released by National Hug Your Boss Day in association with TipTopJob.com, 71% of European workers admit to swearing at their boss. This is in strike contrast to those surveyed in Asia where only 10% admitted to it.

The survey quizzed employees across 5 Continents around the world. 52% in America admitted to using bad language in front of their boss, 23% in Australia and 13% in Africa.

As well as surveying global employees, the UK was split into territories. Employees in London & The South of England were the most rude with 82% admitting to swearing at their boss! Those in the North were the second most bad-mannered employees with 62% selecting YES followed by 61% in Scotland. Only 30% in the East swore, 42% in Wales, 54% in the West and 55% in Ireland. Could this be related to the longer hours’ people in London work and the more stress they are put under do you think?

National Hug Your Boss Day was created in 2008 by TipTopJob.com to promote healthy working relationships. It is being celebrated this year on Friday 4th September and calls for colleagues and managers to simply catch a hug on camera and share it! Corinne Hutchinson comments, “With most of your waking hours spent at work with colleagues and managers, we feel that it is best to create a happy environment to encourage morale and motivation which in turn will increase productivity in the workplace. Do not forget to get involved on the 4th and help promote this worthy cause.”

Hugs in the office lead to...

Our final survey relating to National Hug Your Boss Day is complete and results are out!

We asked our users if they thought that a hug could lead to an office romance. It was almost a 50/50 split in responses with only a fraction (53%) more thinking that YES, it could lead to romance.

Well, of course it could, but does that really mean the romance has come about because of the hug? No probably not. If you have an office fancy, then you have an office fancy. Maybe a HUG just makes you feel like you want to make something out of it.

On another note, if you are having an affair at work, do you avoid hugs in front of co-workers to dodge suspicion? Or are you not bothered about people talking?

Have you been involved in an office fling? Did or do you hug at work? Tell us more....

Americans LOVE their boss

In our recent survey asking “How would you rate your love for your boss?” across the Globe, we found that it was The Americans who loved their boss the most in comparison to any other Continent including Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.

71% of Americans said that they “loved him/her” in their response when only 33% responded in the same way across Europe. In Europe, 49% said they thought “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” keeping it quite reserved.

Employees across Australasia were the most indifferent with everyone returning the “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” option.

It was those across The Middle East that had the highest response to the more bleak option of “Cannot stand him/her” with 27%. 44% responded to the middle of the road answer so it was not all bad!

No one responded in quite such a grim way in Asia - 20% said they “Love him/her”.

Overall, the survey was quite a positive one in terms of how employees feel about their boss with 35% actually saying that they “Love him/her”. 46% were middle of the road by selecting “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” which left only 19% who really did not like their boss and selected the “Cannot stand him/her” option.

With National Hug Your Boss Day fast approaching, how would you answer this question? What is it that you love about your boss? Or on the other hand what is it that you dislike? Let us know....
