Working from home has become a big thing for many people with more sophisticated technology available and to accommodate those striving to have a better work/life balance. It does however usually depend on what kind of role you do as to whether it is even an option.
We asked our users recently how often some of them did work from home. We were surprised at the responses as we did expect a larger number of responses to the one-off times and once per week options. Only 9% work from home at one-off times, 6% once per week, 5% twice per week and 12% 2 to 4 times per week.
27% actually work from home everyday BUT a much larger proportion.....40%, said they NEVER work from home.
What job do you do if you work from home? Help us understand what types of roles actually consist of more working from home :)
46% of people are lucky enough to have less than a 30 minute commute into
work, as found in our latest survey results on TipTopJob.com. 21% of these
individuals travel to work within 10 minutes.
12% travel between 1 and 2 hours each way and 19% travel between 30 minutes
and 1 hour.
Those not so fortunate however include over 22% who travel over 2 hours
into and back from their workplace each time. This can total a minimum of 4
hours of travelling every day! For people commuting on the train this can be a
positive experience if they can open a laptop to carry on working, catch up on
admin or read a book to relax.
How long is your commute?
Do you get the train and how do you spend your time travelling?

It really does show that a lot of bosses are liked, to the extent of employees enjoying a hug with them....

Here we are calling you all to HUG YOUR BOSS and send your piccies in to us on our

Come on and support healthy working relationships....
55% of offices are using air conditioning in the hot weather
to cool off their employees. 42% open up their windows and only 3% use fans.
Air conditioning, on the downside, blows any lingering colds
and bugs around and can spread illness but it is definitely the best option to quickly
cooling down a hot and stuffy office. By an afternoon, fans and windows just do
not cut it.
Do any of you have disagreements within the office about how
cold it gets using air-conditioning? In our experience, those sitting by the
air-conditioning always get freezing cold and those sitting further away from
it, don’t see the benefits. Sometimes, people are never happy are they?!?

In our recent survey asking “How would you rate your love for your boss?”
across the Globe, we found that it was The Americans who loved their boss the
most in comparison to any other Continent including Europe, Australia, Asia and
the Middle East.
71% of Americans said that they “loved him/her” in their response when only
33% responded in the same way across Europe. In Europe, 49% said they thought
“he/she is ok – they are just a boss” keeping it quite reserved.
Employees across Australasia were the most indifferent with everyone
returning the “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” option.
It was those across The Middle East that had the highest response to the
more bleak option of “Cannot stand him/her” with 27%. 44% responded to the
middle of the road answer so it was not all bad!
No one responded in quite such a grim way in Asia - 20% said they “Love
him/her”.
Overall, the survey was quite a positive one in terms of how employees feel
about their boss with 35% actually saying that they “Love him/her”. 46% were
middle of the road by selecting “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” which left
only 19% who really did not like their boss and selected the “Cannot stand
him/her” option.
