12% report to 4 or more bosses

With National Hug Your Boss Day fast approaching, we are turning around our survey questions rapidly to gather lots of interesting data to report. Do help us by casting your votes on the homepage of the website.

Last week, we asked how many bosses you report into. Surprisingly, we found that 12% report into 4 or more bosses.

However, more obviously, there were 54% of people who only report into the 1 boss, making it a little easier for them.

26% report into 2 bosses and 8%, 3.

Having many tiers a hierarchy is fairly common practice but the number of bosses you directly report to is different and can clearly vary from company to company.

So, all of you out there that report into more than the 1 boss, would you prefer to have just 1 boss to report to or do you find multiple reporting OK?! Do tell us here.....

Thank you for support National Hug Your Boss Day!!

37% say being a “Good Listener” is their boss’s best GOOD trait

37% say being a “Good Listener” is their boss’s best GOOD trait

The latest survey results released by National Hug Your Boss Day and TipTopJob.com reveal that 37% feel that their boss’s best GOOD trait is being a “Good Listener”. Don’t we all like it when we don’t get shut down in the first breath but get the chance to express our points and feelings?

The survey looked at a number of different GOOD and BAD traits over several weeks. Although being a good listener ranked the highest in the responses for those GOOD traits, 20% reported “taking responsibility” and 18% “communication” as being the best GOOD trait. On the flip side, the WORST trait was reported as being a “doubter” (there is nothing more destructive than being questioned, watched and not trusted!) with 24% selecting this option. However, 19% said their boss was “selfish”, 17% said they had a “bad temper” and 12% felt their boss was “secretive”.

National Hug Your Boss Day is being celebrated THIS Friday, the 4th September 2015 promoting healthy working relationships between colleagues, bosses and managers. They have launched a new website highlighting facts and stats, motivational articles, quotations, tests about relationships along with displays of hugs caught on camera and video over the years. Bosses, colleagues and anyone who would like to get involved can simply upload their HUGS to the Facebook page, Tweet them #hugyourboss #hugyourbossday or send an email.

Corinne Hutchinson, Marketing Manager at TipTopJob.com comments, “National Hug Your Boss Day is a light bit of fun to have when there is so much stress of everyday work and life. Thank you

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who got involved in National Hug Your Boss Day last Friday.

Photos will be uploaded to the website soon enough and the winner of the "BEST BOSS" competition will be announced this week.

Friday was a great success - we had thousands of pictures uploaded and sent in. We heard Kiss 100 FM having fun with National Hug Your Boss Day and we were interviewed on BBC World Service.

It really does show that a lot of bosses are liked, to the extent of employees enjoying a hug with them....

61% of bosses raise confidence levels

We issued a new press release today from our most recent survey conducted on the website. It goes as follows....

In a recent survey conducted by the International Job Board, TipTopJob, 61% of responders admit that their boss motivates and spurs them on raising their confidence levels at work.

The survey was conducted in the lead up to National Hug Your Boss Day, which is on Friday 22nd August 2014 to find out how employees perceive their bosses and how it affects them.

On the other hand, 25% feel their bosses make them feel de-valued and want to quit their job and 14% feel that bosses cause them stress and headache. That is a total of 39% sending negative vibes about their boss!

National Hug Your Boss Day was created in 2008 to build awareness of the employee/boss relationship as well as normal employee relations at work. With on average 40 hours per week being spent at work, it is important to make sure that working relationships are healthy and positive. Ultimately, if there are constructive relations with colleagues and managers, it can help individuals to feel motivated which then has a knock on effect on the productivity of the company. All round it ends in a win-win situation.

Corinne Hutchinson comments, “To support National Hug Your Boss Day, we are asking you to take a picture of you with your boss (hugging ideally!) and send that into us at hugyourboss@TipTopJob.com or upload it to our Facebook page. Get behind the day and support a good cause.”

BEST Boss Competition

We want to know why your boss is SO great and why they should win a bottle of champagne.

It is that EASY....

Hugs in the office lead to...

Our final survey relating to National Hug Your Boss Day is complete and results are out!

We asked our users if they thought that a hug could lead to an office romance. It was almost a 50/50 split in responses with only a fraction (53%) more thinking that YES, it could lead to romance.

Well, of course it could, but does that really mean the romance has come about because of the hug? No probably not. If you have an office fancy, then you have an office fancy. Maybe a HUG just makes you feel like you want to make something out of it.

On another note, if you are having an affair at work, do you avoid hugs in front of co-workers to dodge suspicion? Or are you not bothered about people talking?

Have you been involved in an office fling? Did or do you hug at work? Tell us more....
