Late boozy nights mid week? Stimulant drinker?

In our recent double whammy survey, we asked if you had turned up to work “drunk” from the night before and secondly if you need stimulant drinks to get you through the working day.

The first survey looking into “drunk working” found that luckily 82% had NEVER done this. Unfortunately there were still 8% that do this on a regular basis and 10% that have done it once or twice. Once or twice is acceptably especially after a big work do, birthday or Christmas party. Do you know someone who falls into that 8% who regularly look bleary eyed and do you think it effects their work productivity?

The second survey asking about drinking stimulant drinks like red bull and monster at work found that a larger amount of people DO NOT drink them. 76% to be exact. However, 24% DO drink these caffeine/sugary drinks to help them get through the working day. Unfortunately, the people drinking these drinks will suffer from a number of side effects like shaking, agitation, dizziness, insomnia, headaches, palpitations and they have a dangerous ability to get people addicted to consuming them.

Our advice would be to keep those boozy nights to the weekend so you are not struggling to cope with a day at work and avoid those caffeine/sugary drinks that can spike your blood sugar levels and cause you to suffer from various other side effects.

What makes you stressed at work?

Our latest survey asked what people felt contributed most to every day stresses at work.

After asking over 500 people in this survey, we found that most people had “too many demands put on them” at work that meant they felt stressed! 25% of responders selected that contributing factor.

The second most contributing factor was “not enough support” of which 22% of the responders chose.

16% selected “the actual role and content of the job”, 14% “not being heard enough”, 13% “relationships at work” and 8% “changes at work”.

The workplace is a stressful one in everyone’s very busy lives where individuals need to make enough money to pay bills and survive in a tough old world. It is interesting to look into WHAT aspects cause stress for most people but this would obviously vary from individual to individual. Our survey has revealed that the most popular cause of stress are the demands we are faced with at work!

What is making you stressed today?

Only 3% use fans in offices to cool them down

55% of offices are using air conditioning in the hot weather to cool off their employees. 42% open up their windows and only 3% use fans.

Air conditioning, on the downside, blows any lingering colds and bugs around and can spread illness but it is definitely the best option to quickly cooling down a hot and stuffy office. By an afternoon, fans and windows just do not cut it.

Do any of you have disagreements within the office about how cold it gets using air-conditioning? In our experience, those sitting by the air-conditioning always get freezing cold and those sitting further away from it, don’t see the benefits. Sometimes, people are never happy are they?!?

Americans LOVE their boss

In our recent survey asking “How would you rate your love for your boss?” across the Globe, we found that it was The Americans who loved their boss the most in comparison to any other Continent including Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.

71% of Americans said that they “loved him/her” in their response when only 33% responded in the same way across Europe. In Europe, 49% said they thought “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” keeping it quite reserved.

Employees across Australasia were the most indifferent with everyone returning the “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” option.

It was those across The Middle East that had the highest response to the more bleak option of “Cannot stand him/her” with 27%. 44% responded to the middle of the road answer so it was not all bad!

No one responded in quite such a grim way in Asia - 20% said they “Love him/her”.

Overall, the survey was quite a positive one in terms of how employees feel about their boss with 35% actually saying that they “Love him/her”. 46% were middle of the road by selecting “he/she is ok – they are just a boss” which left only 19% who really did not like their boss and selected the “Cannot stand him/her” option.

With National Hug Your Boss Day fast approaching, how would you answer this question? What is it that you love about your boss? Or on the other hand what is it that you dislike? Let us know....
