Personality Tests - What Are They?

Are you unsure what personality questionnaires are?

TipTopJob have partnered with JobTestPrep to help explain what they are and provide you with some practical examples so that you become an expert before you have to actually do one.

Personality tests are a very popular method for assessing potential employees during job interviews. The results of these tests have a significant influence on your chances of getting the job as they are seen as a measurement of your compatibility with the job you’re applying for.

Personality tests are often referred to as personality questionnaires. The reason for this is partly because they are often not timed, but mainly in order to make you feel more comfortable with the test and thus answer as honestly as possible. It is also for this reason that most of these tests will say that there is no right answer. This is obviously far from accurate. Depending on the specific position, virtually every question has answers that will help you or hinder your employment chances. It is very important for this reason to prepare for these Personality Tests, despite what the assessment companies might tell you.

If you want to practice a personality test, then please take this link: http://www.jobtestprep.co.uk/personalitytest.aspx?affiliateID=10196.

Jobseekers visit job boards before other methods

In a recent survey by TipTopJob, it was found that most jobseekers would visit a "job board" in the first instance when looking for a new job.

The survey asked 847 jobseekers where they would you go first when looking for a new job.  28% of respondents said "job boards". This highlights how job boards have become more common place in today's jobseeker market and more well-known given that jobseekers visit them directly. This figure would certainly not have been so high 5 years ago.

27% said they would visit a "search engine" first which of course may lead to a jobseeker then finding a job board but also other methods like job aggregators or recruitment agencies.

16% of jobseekers would go to a "recruitment agency" first, 14% would go "direct" and 4% would use their "friends or acquaintance network".

Mike Dauncey, comments, "Interestingly, 10% said they would use "social media" in the first place. Although social media is not the most obvious place to go to look for a new job, it will become more mainstream in the future (especially in the younger generation) as more recruiters and direct clients use the social networks to advertise and recruit and as people use the social media sites to network about potential roles amongst friends and acquaintances."

Price Comparison in the UK

We recently checked the prices of some of the leading job boards in the UK market to test where we sit.

Our Competitor Price Comparison successfully shows that we are the most cost-effective by far.

Looking at a 30 day job posting, Monster were the most expensive charging £199 per job. Out of Monster, Totaljobs, CVlibrary and Reed, Reed were the cheapest, charging £89 per job. We, however, were even more cost-effective, charging ONLY £60 per job.

When looking at the CV database search, Totaljobs came out as the most expensive, charging £1,000 for one month access. Based on the same time period, CVlibrary out of the four chosen job boards where the cheapest at £599. We, however, have undercut the market and are now charging £150 per month.
